With our latest release, we have made several optimizations to the address check - especially for international addresses and the processing of street names with abbreviations.
Correct output of house numbers with additions for address checks in Italy
In the past, there was a frequent problem with address verification in some countries: house numbers with additions such as „7/C“ were not always returned correctly. The expected spelling would be the house number as „7 C“ (with spaces), for example. With our update, we now provide much more precise and correctly formatted correction suggestions - especially for Italian addresses. This improves data quality and prevents unnecessary queries or incorrect delivery addresses.
There was also potential for optimization in the address check via our SLI system: For entries such as „VIA GIORGIO VASARI 7/C, 35010“, identical but incomplete suggestions such as „7“ were previously returned several times - without any relevant additions. After the update, our logic now also reliably recognizes house number suffixes such as „A“, „B“ or „C“ and provides appropriately differentiated suggestions such as „7“, „7 A“, „7 B“, „7 C“. The improvement takes effect automatically if the addition consists of only one character.
Recognition of street names with abbreviations in the German address space
With the latest update, we have significantly improved the recognition of street names in the German address space. Previously, common abbreviations such as „BGM“ for „Bürgermeister“ could not be reliably assigned, which sometimes led to inappropriate suggestions.
Thanks to optimized processing, abbreviations and synonyms are now recognized much more intelligently. This leads to significantly more relevant hits - such as the correct „Bürgermeister-Dr.-Schöneberg-Straße“ when entering „Bgm Dr Schönebergstr.“ in Norden (zip code 26506) - and ensures noticeably improved usability, especially for complex or abbreviated entries.
